"description": "The mission of the Gender+Justice Initiative (GJI) is to make Georgetown a dynamic hub of knowledge production, community engagement, and policy development on intersectional issues of gender, racial, and economic justice.Over the last two years, faculty from all three campuses at Georgetown have explored how best to harness and support the work of Georgetown faculty who are deeply engaged in research on gender justice, particularly as it is situated within social justice and civil rights.  The GJI hosted a series of events in the 2016-17 academic year to engage faculty and students on our campuses, bring visibility to our on-going work on gender justice, spark collaborative opportunities, and set the stage for a more formal structure to support gender justice research at Georgetown University.  A highlight of the year was the GJI Fall Colloquium, which is now an annual event. Why the “+”? We refer to “Gender+Justice” to signal that our concerns have gender at the core but extend to race, class, sexuality, and other markers of subordination."
